Fundamentals of Coaching event delivered at the Cornwall Girls ETC
Cornwall FA were delighted to deliver the first of a 2-part coach development series at the Cornwall Girls Emerging Talent Centre.
The event was delivered by Cornwall Emerging Talent Centre Player Development Lead Vicky Fisher and FA Womens High Performance Coach Developer Tash Mills.
The first event explored how to develop a positive and engaging learning environment to help players thrive. Vicky and Tash worked with the U8s and U9s Girls Advanced Development Centre group to highlight how coaches can plan, design and deliver sessions to help create an environment where players thrive.
Cornwall FA Football Development Manager Daniel Greenough said, “To host a coach development event at Cornwall Girls Emerging Talent Centre provided a great opportunity for local grassroots coaches to not only gain an insight into the fundamentals of coaching but also the way in which the centre helps to support girls football in Cornwall. Vicky Fisher and Tash Mills delivered a great session that we are sure provided some great takeaway messages for grassroot coaches to use with their players at their local club.
We would encourage anyone who missed out on the first event to attend the second event in February 2023 and we look forward to welcoming returning coaches back next year”.
For those interested in part 2 of this series, it will further build on the first event, continuing the theme of creating a positive environment as well as helping coaches to understand how they can further impact the needs of individuals within coaching session. To do this, Vicky and Tash will use an older age group (either U14 or U16) to focus on helping coaches develop their observational skills to help allow coaches to notice skills within practice and link these to the types of interventions coaches may use to positively impact player learning.
