Cornwall FA Coach Development Programme kicks off for the new season

Coaches attended the Skilful Player Part 2 event at Callywith College.

Cornwall FA were delighted to kick off the new season’s coach development programme last week with special guests from Plymouth Argyle Academy delivering part 2 of the Skilful Player coach development event.

Last season, coaches attended Callywith for the first instalment of The Skilful Player coach development event which saw Plymouth Argyle Director of Football Neil Dewsnip and 1st Team Coach Kevin Nancekivell deliver a snapshot of Plymouth Argyle’s 8 core skills. This year, part 2 treated local grassroots coaches to an evening of skill and game-based practices zooming in on 2 of Plymouth Argyle’s 8 core skills, these being: short passing and dribbling. In attendance to deliver this year’s coaching sessions was Plymouth Argyle Head of Academy Coaching Lee Hodge and U18’s Manager Darren Way.

Cornwall FA Football Development Manager Daniel Greenough attended the event and said, “We were delighted to run our first coach development event of the season, with so many coaches coming together to observe the sessions delivered and discuss ideas they gained from the event. Lee and Darren provided some great insights into how to develop skilful players which I’m sure the coaches in attendance would have benefitted from".

We are now looking forward to our future events which will be delivered across the county to try and reach as many coaches as possible, and we’d love to see you there”.
