Cornwall FA kick off Coach Development Programme in style

Special guests from Plymouth Argyle delivered the Skilful Player coach development event last week.

Last week we welcomed Plymouth Argyle to Callywith college to deliver our 1st coach development event of the season, ‘The Skilful Player’.

On Friday 24th September Cornwall FA were delighted to see over 40 coaches from across the county attend our 1st coach development event of the season as part of our new Coach Development Programme.

Our special guests from Plymouth Argyle Football Club included Director of Football Neil Dewsnip, 1st Team Coach Kevin Nancekivell and Academy Head of Coaching Lee Hodge who all delivered a variety of engaging sessions based around Argyle's core techniques.

An attending coach expressed, "I found the event very helpful. It was well organised, simple layout and welcoming from Cornwall FA. The sessions were well run and the demonstrations and explanations from the PAFC coaches provided some great insights".

Another coach who attend was asked to summarise the event in three words with their response being, “enjoyable, interesting and transferrable”.

Coaches who attended were also delighted to receive two free tickets to Plymouth Argyle’s fixture against Doncaster Rovers on the 25th which saw the Pilgrims grab a late winner to gain all 3 points.

Cornwall FA Football Development Manager added, “it was brilliant to see so many coaches attend our 1st coach development event of the season. Coaches showed great engagement throughout the evening and the bonus of attending events like this is not only do coaches get to gain new ideas from the special guests delivering the sessions, they are also provided with the opportunity to network with other local coaches to further share ideas and best practice.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Plymouth Argyle to further our coach development offering throughout the season. Having guest such as Neil Dewsnip provides a great opportunity for our local coaches to further develop the great work they are already delivering on a weekly basis”.

Cornwall FA are currently finalising future coach development events so please keep an eye on our social media channels to keep up to date. We would love to see as many new and returning coaches as possible on future events.
