Cornwall FA Launch Coach Development Programme
Firstly, we would like to thank all the coaches who provided feedback in our recent coach education consultation at the end of last season. The feedback received was extremely valuable and after reviewing, we are pleased to inform you that the previous CPD events will now be rebranded as the Cornwall FA Coach Development Programme which will see a range of coaching events delivered across the 2021/22 season.
A clear theme when reviewing your feedback was the desire to have a blend of face to face and online learning opportunities therefore our Coach Development Programme will offer a mixture of online and face to face coach development events. During these events we will welcome guest speakers who will deliver practical coaching alongside opportunities to network with other Cornish coaches.
Across the season, we will be delivering coaching events in the East, Central and West of Cornwall to reach and include as many coaches as possible. The events will be delivered at a range of venues including club based events therefore if your club is interested in the possibility of hosting one of Cornwall FA’s coach development events, please register your interest here.
Cornwall FA’s Football Development Manager Daniel Greenough added, “we are delighted that the revamped Coach Development Programme will provide a great range of events for coaches across the county to attend with the view of reaching as many coaches as possible throughout the season.
We massively value the work all volunteers do in their spare time to help develop players and grow participation levels therefore to be able to provide coaches with multiple accessible opportunities to learn and develop is a great step in the right direction for future coach development in Cornwall”.
To further enhance the learning opportunities provided, Cornwall FA will work in partnership with Plymouth Argyle Football Club who will deliver multiple insightful coach development events across the season.
Cornwall FA’s first coach development event, The Skilful Player, is a prime example of Argyle's commitment to provide greater support and professional development opportunities for Cornish grass-roots coaches. This event will see Argyle’s Director of Football Neil Dewsnip and 1st team coach Kevin Nancekevill visit Callywith College on the 24th September to share insights around how coaches can develop their player’s core skills back at their grassroots club.
Additionally, the first 50 coaches to book and attend the event will be provided with two free tickets to attend the Pilgrims’ Sky Bet League One fixture against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, 25 September.
The event is free for coaches in Cornwall and those in attendance will receive two FA accredited CPD hours against their coaching record.
