Cornwall FA and Plymouth Argyle to host coach development event at Penryn College

Cornwall FA are delighted to share the details of the next coach development event which will see ‘The Skilful Player’ event brought to Penryn College on the 1st February 2022.

Earlier this season, Plymouth Argyle delivered The Skilful Player coach development event at Callywith College which saw over 40 coaches observe a range of coaching sessions put on by Argyle’s academy and first team staff.

Following this, Cornwall FA are pleased to share The Skilful Player coach development event will now be brought further West to Penryn College to provide the opportunity for even more of Cornwall’s coaches to gain insights from Argyle’s coaches.

The event will focus on developing the skilful player through the application of Plymouth Argyle’s core techniques. Argyle’s special guests will include First Team Coach Kevin Nancekivell, Academy Head of Coaching Lee Hodge, former Plymouth Argyle 1st team player and current Professional Development Phase Coach Jamie Lowry along with Head of Cornwall Recruitment and Development Paul Rowe.

Argyle’s coaches will work with local youth Cornish players to demonstrate Plymouth Argyle's Core Skills in practice for coaches to observe. They will provide discussion points and key coaching insights during their delivery to help coaches understand how to develop the core skills within their clubs. This event will also provide opportunities to network with other local Cornish coaches.

Additionally, coaches who attend the event will also be entitled to 2 free tickets to go and watch Plymouth Argyle's fixture against Cheltenham at Home Park on the 5th February 2022 - tickets are available to the first 50 coaches who sign up on a 1st come, 1st served basis.

Cornwall FA Football Development Manager Daniel Greenough added, “it’s brilliant to be able to bring the Skilful Player coach development event to the West of the county to allow even more coaches access to the sessions delivered by the Plymouth Argyle coaching staff. The event held at Callywith College in September was well received so we are looking forward to welcoming new coaches from the West of the county to this event.”
