FAWG Referee

Referee Representatives for our Football Advisory Working Groups

"There has never been a better time to be involved in refereeing in Cornwall"

Referee Representatives wanted for Football Advisory Working Groups (FAWG)

Cornwall FA has made a significant and positive step by replacing its Football Management Board with the new Football Advisory Working Groups (FAWG). These groups provide the opportunity for everyone to get involved and have their voice heard. Due to this restructure, the role of Chairperson for the Referee Football Advisory Working Group was advertised, and we are delighted to announce that following the interview process, Simon Long has been selected and will now take up the role as Chair of the Referee FAWG.

Simon had this to say:

"I am delighted to have been selected to lead the Referees FAWG. During my previous role as the Referees Representative on the FMB one of the biggest issues raised was the lack of opportunity to get involved and have a voice. I would therefore encourage anyone wanting to support and improve refereeing, not only for referees themselves, but the wider football community to apply and get involved’.

We will be looking to appoint the remaining members of the Referee FAWG, and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in applying for the following roles:

  • Senior Referee Representative (Level 4 & above)
  • Intermediate Referee Representative (Level 5)
  • Junior Referee Representative (Level 7 to Level 6)
  • Women’s Pathway Referee Representative
  • Youth Referee Rep Representative (Aged 14 – 25)

Applications for more than one positions are possible.

Closing date: Friday 9th February.

Successful applicants will be interviewed online on w/c 19th February.

Lee Swabey, our Referee Development Officer, says "I believe that there has never been a better time to be involved in refereeing in Cornwall, and now is your chance to play a key role in shaping the Cornwall FA referee vision for the next 4 years. I hope you will see from the roles that we are advertising to begin with, that we are covering several areas of the refereeing community to ensure that you all get the opportunity to have your say and play a role in leading The Cornwall FA Referee Team"

We are excited to get started with this Referees FAWG and look forward to welcoming applications from our football family.
