Official Statement from Cornwall FA

Cornwall FA Headquarters, and Football Facilities and weather disruptions.

Official Statement from Cornwall FA: Cornwall FA Headquarters, Football Facilities and weather disruptions.

Dear Cornwall Football Community,

As your football association, we want to take a moment to let you know about our exciting plans for our dedicated Cornwall FA Headquarters and Football Facilities and take this moment to talk about the weather impacts and future projects going on in Cornwall.

Over the past 18 months, we have been working alongside the local council and local football community to bring this project forward. As many of you will know, the development of a new headquarters and football facilities is a complex undertaking, requiring meticulous planning and coordination.

We are aware of the frustrations experienced within the football community due to the adverse weather conditions this season. The impact has been felt by all, with multiple games being postponed and rescheduled. Highlighting even more so the demand for facilities in the county.

Indeed, while it is not in our gift to unilaterally alter this season’s structure, we have formally expressed our concerns to the FA regarding the deadlines for FA affiliated leagues (Step 6 and above) to complete their fixture programme and the knock-on effect on the NLS Feeder League (St Piran Premier Division). We have raised concerns for the wellbeing and safety of both players, officials and volunteers and the impact that these deadlines put on teams, clubs, leagues, and facilities. We extend our appreciation to everyone involved for their cooperation and efforts in ensuring all fixtures are played before the season's end.

In addition to our own headquarters and facilities project, we have been working closely with the Football Foundation to support local clubs and partners in Cornwall on their journey to getting their own 3G facilities. The Football Foundation, as the charity of the Premier League, The FA, and Government, is dedicated to delivering outstanding grassroots sports facilities. These facilities not only enhance the quality of games but also attract more players, thus helping to transform our communities where the need is greatest, and impact will be most significant. Several projects are in the pipeline involving football clubs in Cornwall seeking to develop their own 3G facilities. We look forward to being able to share more details regarding these projects with you all soon.

Moving forward, we are committed to maintaining regular communication with our Cornwall football community. Transparency is paramount to us, and we understand the importance of keeping open lines of communication with our stakeholders. To this end, we will be providing updates on these projects in our monthly newsletters to ensure everyone remains informed.

We appreciate the understanding and support of each member of our football community throughout this journey. Your patience and dedication are invaluable as we work together to elevate football in Cornwall.

Thank you for your continued support.
