Cornwall FA deliver a Coach Development double-header
Cornwall FA put on a pair of Coach Development Events this week. First, the Cornwall Female Coaches Community enjoyed their second face-to-face event before professional coaches from Plymouth Argyle headed into Cornwall with the third instalment in their Developing the Skilful Player series.
Hosted by Charlestown, Monday brought our Female Coaches Community together for the first time this season. Our coaches enjoyed a fantastic, friendly atmosphere as Vicky Fisher (FA Coach Developer for the South West) delivered a session based on Engaging Disengaged Players. “This was a great event and the small nature of the group allowed our coaches to really join in and get their questions answered,” said Football Development Officer for the women, girls’ and disability game, Chloe Harris. “We are keen to see the group grow so if you are interested in joining, please get in touch!” Chloe is available at 01208 262986 or via email: chloe.harris@cornwallfa.com
With over 50 coaches in attendance and eager to learn, Tuesday’s event at Penryn College was a real treat. Coaches from all over the county got to witness Plymouth Argyle’s Lee Hodge (Head of Academy Coaching) and Paul Rowe (Head of Cornwall Recruitment & Development) in action. The pair worked with a group of players on turning and defending, two of Argyle’s six core skills, showing the coaches how they can help players to develop in these areas.
Will Snapes, Football Development Officer (Youth & Adult Male): “The support for this event has been brilliant – a huge thank you to all of the coaches who turned out. Argyle have continued their good work in the county, showing a real commitment to improving the standard of coaching within Cornwall. The session was really insightful with loads of sound advice on how to improve players’ technique and make best use of a small area. We look forward to seeing our coaches at future events!”
Cornwall FA is hugely grateful to Phil Stokes and all of Plymouth Argyle, Lee, Paul and Vicky for their help in organising and delivering these events.
