The Skilful Player 2022

Plymouth Argyle to deliver The Skilful Player Part 2 in Penryn

This Coach Development event will focus on the Pilgrims' core skills.

Cornwall FA is pleased to announce details of the latest Coach Development event set to be delivered in Penryn in cooperation with Plymouth Argyle.

The Skilful Player event will allow Cornish coaches to observe a range of coaching sessions put on by Argyle’s academy and first team staff. This is a great opportunity to see professional coaches in action at close quarters. The event will have a particular focus on the Pilgrims’ eight core skills that they help players to develop within their academy programme.

The Skilful Player Part 2 coach development event will see Lee Hodge (Plymouth Argyle Head of Academy Coaching U7-U13) and Kevin Nancekivell (First Team Coach and Technical Lead Coach U14-U21) deliver skill and games-based practices focusing on two of Argyle’s core skills. They will work with local youth Cornish players to demonstrate these core skills in practice and provide discussion points and key coaching insights during their delivery to help coaches understand how to develop the core skills within their club environments. This event will also provide opportunities to network with other local Cornish coaches.

The event will be held in person and the event details are:

  • Tuesday, 25th April 2023
  • Penryn College, TR10 8PZ
  • 6:00pm to 8:00pm

The event also will explore the launch of the revised Cornish Player Pathway and Argyle's new Elite Coaching Hubs.

Please be aware, this event may be photographed or video recorded and shared by Cornwall FA and Plymouth Argyle for marketing purposes.

Feel free to share this event with others at your club so that they don’t miss out on the chance to tap in to the Argyle coaches’ expertise.

After you have booked on, an email will be sent out closer to the event to provide a preview of the night and any relevant further details (e.g. venue parking).
