Face to face groundskeeper sessions coming to East and West Cornwall

Groundskeeper Development workshops will be held in Wendron and Bodmin in March.
Cornwall FA is excited to share details of our face to face Groundskeeper Development workshops in the East and West of the county in March 2023. These follow the online session delivered last December.

The power of the grass pitch is fundamental for a positive playing experience in grassroots football and has proven to be a key driver in the participation levels across the county. Groundskeepers across Cornwall work tirelessly to maintain and develop playing surfaces throughout the season, especially when the winter months come into play. To support this integral role within Cornish football, Cornwall FA will be running a series of events to support clubs in attracting funding for both ongoing grass pitch maintenance works and machinery as well as highlighting support available for groundskeepers. This will include covering areas such as using PitchPower, funding opportunities that clubs can access to develop their club facilities and pitches along with recommended pitch works for this time of year and beyond.

March 2023 – Face to Face Events
  • Tuesday 7th March – Underlane, Wendron United, TR13 0EH
  • Wednesday 8th March – Priory Park, Bodmin Town, PL31 2AE

Please arrive from 5:45pm for a 6:15pm start for both events. The sessions will finish at approximately 8:30pm, which could vary depending on Q&A and practical demonstration duration.

The face to face Groundskeeper Development events will build upon the online webinar and further explore the importance of seasonal maintenance with Ashley Hendrickx-Nutley from the Grounds Management Association (GMA) who will provide practical demonstrations of how to perform a pitch inspection. Cornwall FA machinery partner Vincent Tractors will also be in attendance to demonstrate different grounds maintenance machinery to the groundskeepers in attendance. The evening will also include guidance from Cornwall FA around how clubs can access funding to help improve facilities and the quality of grass pitches in Cornwall.

Please be aware, this event may be photographed and or video recorded and shared by Cornwall FA and partners for marketing purposes.
