Cornwall FA are delighted to share the details of the 2023 Pokémon Youth Futsal Cup, with our expression of interest form now open for the County Qualifiers running in March and April.

Futsal is a fast paced, exciting, and skilful game that allows players to master the ball. A smaller 5v5 format that is played with a smaller, heavier ball allows for players to work on their technical skills in tight spaces encouraging fast footwork, combination play and quick counter attacks.

How does the FA Pokémon Youth Futsal Cup work?

The FA Pokémon Youth Futsal Cup is a national competition in which the winners of County Qualifiers progress to and are expected to attend the Midlands and South West Regional Tournament (17th and 18th June at the University of Wolverhampton) followed by the National Finals in Summer 2023 (8th and 9th July at the University of Wolverhampton). 

The competition is open to boys/mixed and girls teams in the U10, U12, U14 and U16 age groups. As per FA regulations for this competition, players may not play outside of their age banding (please see Competition Rules Document below for clarification) as these strands allow sufficient scope of competitions to provide for all.

Our County Qualifiers will be taking place at Bodmin Leisure Centre (PL31 1DE) on the following dates. Please note that these dates have been chosen in agreement with all the relevant youth leagues so any regular fixture that clashes with the Futsal tournament will be rearranged:

• Saturday 25th March 2023 - U10 (AM) and U14 Girls (PM)
• Sunday 26th March 2023 - U10 (AM) and U14 Boys/Mixed (PM)
• Saturday 1st April 2023 - U12 (AM) and U16 Boys/Mixed (PM)
• Sunday 2nd April 2023 - U12 (AM) and U16 Girls (PM)

Exact timings will be confirmed at a later date.

Winners progress to the Regional Finals in Wolverhampton which will take place as follows:

• Saturday 17th June 2023 (U14s and U16s)
• Sunday 18th June 2023 (U10s and U12s)

How can my team take part?

For your team to take part, you must register your interest using the relevant online booking form below. After submitting this form, Cornwall FA will confirm with you if your team has been accepted for this year’s qualifiers. 

When will the FA Pokémon Youth Futsal Cup take place?

The County Qualifiers will run across boys/mixed and girls Futsal in March and April 2023. The details for each group can be seen below.

Venue: Bodmin Leisure Centre (PL31 1DE)
Surface: Indoor sports hall
Timings: To be confirmed upon successful registration
Cost: £40

Due to site restrictions, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate spectators at this event. Therefore, only DBS-checked coaches registered with that team and players will be allowed into the sports hall for the duration of the event.

Boys/Mixed Cup

• Sunday 26th March 2023 - U10 (AM) and U14 Boys/Mixed (PM)
• Saturday 1st April 2023 - U12 (AM) and U16 Boys/Mixed (PM)

Please be aware that because of limited spaces only 10 teams per age category will be permitted to enter. If places are oversubscribed then there will be a random draw to determine who is entered into the competition. If your club is allocated a place you will then be sent an email inviting you to complete your registration, so keep an eye out.

Girls Cup
