Cornwall FA to host Grass Pitch and Groundskeeper Development Events

Attend our upcoming workshops to help maintain your grass pitches.

Do you want to know how to improve your grass pitches?  Do you want funding to improve and maintain your pitches?  Do you want funding to purchase maintenance machinery?  If the answer is yes, then don’t miss out on our upcoming Grass Pitch and Groundskeeper Development Events

Cornwall FA are excited to share a series of grass pitch and groundskeeper development events which will see an online webinar delivered in December 2022, followed by face to face workshops in the East and West of the county in February 2023.

The power of the grass pitch is fundamental for a positive playing experience in grassroots football and has proven to be a key driver in the participation levels across the county. Groundskeepers across the county work tirelessly to maintain and develop playing surfaces throughout the season, especially when the winter months come into play. To support this integral role within Cornish football, Cornwall FA will be running a series of events to support clubs in attracting funding for both ongoing grass pitch maintenance works and machinery as well as highlighting support available for groundskeepers. This will include covering areas such as using PitchPower, funding opportunities that clubs can access to develop their club facilities and pitches along with recommended pitch works for this time of year and beyond.

December 2022 – Online Webinar
  • Date: Wednesday 7th December 2022
  • Venue: Online Webinar via Microsoft Teams (link to be shared following registration)

Along with seasonal pitch maintenance and what tasks a groundskeeper should be completing at different stages of the season.

The face to face groundskeeper development events will build upon the online webinar and further explore the importance of seasonal maintenance with Ashley Hendrickx-Nutley from the Grounds Management Association (GMA) who will provide practical demonstrations of how to perform a pitch inspection. Cornwall FA machinery partner Vincent Tractors will also be in attendance to demonstrate different grounds maintenance machinery to the groundskeepers in attendance. Cornwall FA Football Development Manager Daniel Greenough said, “We are excited to deliver the upcoming groundskeeper development events as we hope this will provide some really valuable insights into how clubs and groundskeepers can further enhance grass pitches across Cornwall. There are some great funding opportunities available for grassroots clubs who engage with PitchPower so we hope these events will help local volunteers feel more comfortable and equipped to undertake the pitch inspection process, allowing funding and guidance to become more accessible”.
