On Sunday 30^th October, the Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League Finals took place at Newquay Tretherras, celebrating a debut season for the newly formed league.

The Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League teams eagerly awaited the Finals which took place on the 31^st October 2022. A total of 11 teams from across the County attended and took part in the finals. With 2 competitions running, teams competed in either the Cup or Shield competition.  After competitive fixtures, the winners of the Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League Finals were:

Cup Competition Winners: Penwith Nomads

Shield Competition Winners: Dobwalls

Barry Cornelius (Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League Chairman) said, “It's a wonderful time, it’s now come to fruition that we’ve actually got there. It’s been over 3 years with COVID stopping, starting and we finally got there. We’ve had the rounds from the East and the West and even the finals had to be postponed due to circumstances beyond our control. So it’s just lovely to see everybody here enjoying it and taking part”.

Cornwall FA Football Development Officer George Roberts attended the finals and said, “It was fantastic to see 11 teams from across the county taking part in the league finals. The introduction of the Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League this season demonstrates the growth in this format of the game and the amazing work the league committee have done behind the scenes to bring the league to life this year. As a County FA, we look forward to continuing to support Walking Football within Cornwall and are excited to see the League provision continue to grow. We would also like to thank Age UK for their support in sponsoring the new league”.
