Cornwall FA deliver Referee Development Event at Helston AFC
Cornwall FA were delighted to welcome referees to the first of two referee developments events held at Helston AFC.
This event was the first referee development event to be held in person following the COVID-19 Pandemic. The event contained a mix of award presentations, discussion of refereeing topics and even some quizzes.
3 of Cornwall’s newly qualified referees, Neil Pitt, Chris Jones and Darren Griffiths all received awards and were warmly welcomed by the referees in attendance.
Following this, long service awards were presented to Ken Keemer (25 years), Steve Lawrence (40 years) and Ray Emmans (50 years). They all received certificates from The FA for their contributions to refereeing, an amazing achievement by all three of them.
The attendees then took a quiz which saw Jon Green, Kev Knowles and Rowan Clarke victorious with 9 out of 10 correct answers, and they received a prize for their efforts too.
Finally, the evening moved on to a discussion about penalty area decisions and support with reporting misconduct and the process that happens when a report has been submitted by a referee.
Cornwall FA Referee Development Officer Lee Swabey coordinated the evening and added, “it was great to have referees back for a face to face referee development event which saw great engagement throughout the evening.
We hope those in attendance enjoyed the evening and we look forward to seeing more of you at our next event on Monday 28th March at Cornwall FA".
