Last weekend, Cornwall FA were delighted to see the first set of fixtures take place in the East and West of the County for the Age UK Walking Football League.
With fixtures hosted at Launceston College and Camborne College, the first round of league fixtures saw a total of 11 FA Affiliated Walking Football teams for members aged 50 and above.
Cornwall FA's Josh Stockdale attend the league fixtures in the West and said, “It was great to see the first league games take place. The weather was brilliant, and the games were played in good spirit. It was a great example of the benefits Walking Football provides, with players keeping active, socialising and most of all enjoying themselves”.
Lee Davis from Age UK Cornwall added, "We are extremely excited to be working with Cornwall FA and we are proud to sponsor the Age UK Cornwall Walking Football League. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part so far and wish you all the very best of luck for upcoming matches.
Our hope is that the Age UK Walking Football League will provide further opportunities for people to get involved, get active and most importantly, have a lot of fun.
This year, we are also celebrating 50 years as a charity (#GoForGold) - to mark the occasion we are hosting several events across Cornwall that are focused on inclusivity, intergenerational connectivity and sustainability.
We cannot think of a better way to KICK OFF our Go For Gold celebrations".
