U8-10 festival

Cornwall FA WEURO2022 Wildcats, U8’s and U10’s Festival

Over 150 girls attended the festival at Newquay.

Cornwall FA were delighted to host a WEURO2022 Weetabix Wildcats, U8 and U10s Festival, welcoming over 150 girls to Newquay Tretherras .

Alongside this year’s annual Weetabix Wildcats Festival, Cornwall FA invited all new and current U8’s and U10’s teams from across the county to take part in its WEUROS 2022 afternoon tournament.

The Weetabix Wildcats festival saw Wildcat providers from across the county come together to deliver fun activities and small-sided games for their players.

In the afternoon, 16 teams across U8 and U10 age groups (x8 from U8’s and x8 from U10’s) took part in a round-robin styled afternoon. With action-packed games played in good spirits, 120 young girls got the opportunity to play plenty of football.

The U8 and U10’s festival was created to further the reach of the annual wildcat’s festival, in line with the excitement of the Womens Euros.  to have a lasting legacy

Andrew Heapy (Cornwall FA Women, Girls & Disability officer) commented, ‘it was great to see so many young girls enjoying their football. This is the first time many of these young girls have ever played in a match day environment and it’s so promising to see how popular the female game is within Cornwall, and we hope this will only continue to grow with the current Womens Euros tournament’’.
