Cornwall Women were 5-2 winners over Devon Women in the first of 6 representative fixtures for this season’s Brunel Cup.

Last Friday, a trip across the Tamar saw the Cornwall Women’s squad take on Devon Women at Coach Road, with a 7:30pm kick off.

With a crowd of over 250 in attendance for the match, Cornwall lined up to take on Devon with the players below:

The game started quickly, with Devon FA taking the lead through an early strike on the 9^th minute, with Cornwall replying within 5 minutes to level the scores with a goal from Chloe Williams. Devon then regained the lead on 43^rd minute. Minutes later an own goal from Devon levelled the scores again  with the half time score 2-2.

During the second half, Cornwall gained more control of the game, with Lucy Solloway putting Cornwall ahead in the 53^rd minute. Minutes later, Beth Prowse furthered the blow with another quick-fire goal for Cornwall in the 58^th minute extending Cornwall’s lead to 4-2. With 5 minutes to go, Cornwall’s Charlotte Whitmore secured Cornwall’s victory to win 5-2.

What’s next?

The next fixture in the Brunel Cup will take place on Saturday 12^th March which will see Cornwall U16 and Cornwall U18 girls take on Devon at Newquay AFC.
