Saltash United Awarded Grassroots Club of the Year 2021

Cornwall FA have presented Saltash with their FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Club of the Year Award 2021

Cornwall FA’s Geoff Lee and Daniel Greenough were delighted to visit Saltash United over the weekend to present them with their Grassroots Club of the Year award as part of the FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Awards 2021.

The Grassroots Club of the Year Award aims to recognise and celebrate the fun, respectful, inclusive and excellent environment created at Saltash United FC and is a real credit to all the dedicated volunteers and players that work together at the club. The award was presented ahead of Saltash’s Senior Cup fixture against Camelford which saw a late victory for Saltash.

Speaking to Club Treasurer Steve Morley, he expressed, “It was a complete surprise and means a lot for the club to be awarded with Grassroots Club of the Year with all the effort and time that has been put in by all the committee and volunteers who give up their time for free to help improve the club.

It was wonderful to know that other clubs in the county appreciate what we are doing as a club and took time out to vote for us”.

Steve got involved with Saltash around 15 years ago, initially helping out on a matchday and has since taken roles of Club Secretary and Treasurer. He added, “over the years I have enjoyed helping the club and even though I have had some health issues, my involvement in this club has kept my mind active! I’ve loved the weekly challenges to help keep the club running especially after the difficulties the pandemic provided”.

Cornwall FA would like to congratulate Saltash United on their award and wish them all the best in the future seasons.
