With the world of football currently fixed on the Euros, our final CPD session of the season saw a last-minute substitution ahead of kick off. The topic of the CPD event transitioned to focus on current trends in the Euros.
Some interesting discussions took place around trends such as tactical approaches to defending and how this has influenced the games played so far. Additional to this, discussions around playing out from the back formed an interesting discussion around whether teams have looked to play short passes or longer, more direct passes to beat the opposing team's press. This then led nicely into a discussion around how, as coaches, we can best support our players during games through providing them with a range of solutions and ideas to help them achieve what they perceive to be the most appropriate decision.
Furthermore, the addition of fans was well received by the coaches, with the added atmosphere and energy being missed from recent games.
To finish, the coaches were given some tasks to take away and carry out during the evenings Euro’s fixture between Belgium and Portugal.
Although reflective discussions were based around the Euros, the previously planned presentation focusing on reflection within your own coaching practice is still available to view via a copy of the presentation slides below.
