After many years of use, Frogpool and Cusgarne Football Club’s container was starting to deteriorate leaving machinery at risk of weather damage. With a new container needed, Frogpool and Cusgarne explored opportunities for funding and applied to the Cornwall FA Small Clubs Grants Scheme. After their application was approved, Cornwall FA awarded them with a £500 grant to put towards the purchase of a new container.
Michelle Mallaber (Frogpool and Cusgarne FC Treasurer) explained, “We needed to replace our storage container as our old one had lots of holes and was leaking. Our ride on lawn mower stored inside had got damp and had problems starting because of the leaks in the container and so we purchased a new container.
Being able to purchase a new container with the grant received from Cornwall FA has provided additional security and a dry place for our machinery and equipment to be stored.
We are very grateful for this grant which has enabled us to purchase a much needed new container to store our equipment”.
Daniel Greenough (Cornwall FA’s Football Development Manager), added, “Having a safe and secure place to store club equipment and machinery is so important to local clubs across the County as it allows clubs to work towards maintaining their pitches and facilities.
Cornwall FA were delighted to be able to assist Frogpool and Cusgarne Football Club through the Small Clubs Grants Scheme and although it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s brilliant to see the container is finally on site. This project signified the purpose of the funding which is to help support smaller clubs across Cornwall who don’t have access to bigger funding pots.
Unfortunately, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Small Clubs Grant Scheme is currently on pause and we are currently looking at how we can best support our smaller clubs going forwards”.
