In recent weeks, prior to lockdown, Cornwall Football Association representatives have been able to visit and present winners with their awards as part of the FA and McDonalds Grassroots Awards. The Cornwall FA 2019/20 Grassroots Project of The Year was awarded to St Agnes AFC Dynamos Girls, an ever-growing girls group which currently consists of: 2 Wildcats Centres, U9s, U11s, U13s, U15s, U18s and a pathway for female players to move into the adult womens teams.
Mandy Kimmins from St Agnes AFC had the following to say after the club received the award, “St Agnes AFC Dynamos Girls are very excited to win Project of the Year. The Project was set up 5 years ago to provide an inclusive opportunity for girls of any age or ability to play football. This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our amazing coaches who go the extra mile week in and week out to develop and progress the girls game in Cornwall”
15 year old Mia who joined at the start commented, "Being part of St Agnes AFC Dynamos Girls has been really special and important for me. I love playing football and Dynamos makes me feel I belong as part of a team and a club. We have fun, keep fit and I have made some really special friendships. Thank you to everyone who has made it happen".
Cornwall FA’s Womens, Girls and Disability Officer Vicky Fisher has helped support the group in recent years and had the following to say, “It’s fantastic to see St Agnes AFC Dynamos are embracing the development of female football, offering football to girls of all ages and abilities in a safe and supportive environment. From those girls who are brand new to the game taking part in a Wildcats session for the first time, to those who are playing competitively within a league setting there is an opportunity for all. A huge well done to all those coaches involved within each one of these sessions and teams”
Cornwall FA would like to congratulate St Agnes AFC on winning their award and look forward to seeing future developments.
