Newquay Tretherras Officially Open Fully Refurbished 3G Pitch

On Wednesday 18th September, Senior Football Development Officer and Facilities lead Daniel Greenough was invited to attend the grand opening of the newly refurbished 3G astro pitch at Newquay Tretherras School.

The school is delighted to have been able to carry out the full refurbishment and extension of the pitch after receiving over £363,000 from the Premier League and FA Facilities Grants. With the total cost of the work costing over £500,000 this new facility compromising of a full-sized all-weather 3g Fieldturf pitch with new technical areas, designated spectator areas on two sides of the pitch, new 4.5m security fencing and recess areas for goal storage will be a fantastic addition to local football.

The facility, which hosts a number of local teams from around the area will allow year-round training and fixtures, this is in addition to the previous upgrading the school carried out recently, installing new flooring in their indoor sports hall ensuring that Futsal can also be played at the school site.

Daniel had this to say about the new facility; "It was great to see a range of people coming together to deliver the newly re-laid and improved 3G facility at Newquay Tretherras.  All the hard work behind the scenes has paid off allowing football and sport to continue to thrive In the area.  The layout of the new surface and mixture of goals will allow different formats to take place on the pitch with ease which is great for the development of our game.  We hope the next 10 years are as successful as the last, playing a key role for sustainable facilities in Cornwall."
