Competition Winners Enjoy England Experiences

This week two local volunteers had the opportunity to attend the England Euro 2020 qualifying matches at Wembley Stadium and St Mary's, Southampton. The first of our volunteers, Richard from Launceston FC won the tickets through a draw at our Welfare Officers networking event, rewarding the often forgotten volunteer for their hard work keeping football safe.

The second volunteer, Alan, won the tickets through the referee registration competition, all referees that registered for the new season before a specific date were entered into a draw and Alan was the lucky winner.

Have a read of the two volunteers experiences below;

England  4 - 0 Bulgaria at Wembley Stadium

"First of all big big thank you to Cornwall FA, I had an absolutely fantastic day Saturday and the result wasn’t bad either. From start to finish it was a fantastic experience to see an international game and be witness to a hat tick by Harry Kane, the atmosphere stewarding etc all faultless proud to be Cornish and English so again thank you. England 5 - 3 Kosovo at St Marys Stadium, Southampton FC

"Last night (Tuesday 10th September) I was lucky enough to attend the England v Kosovo fixture at St Mary's stadium in Southampton. Having re-registered as a referee for the 2019/20 season, I was drawn out as the first prize winner - 2 tickets to the match.

I arrived in good time, and with the good seat I had, I was able to watch the players and match officials carry out their pre-match warm up routines which is a good learning experience. The match was fantastic, a poor start but quickly turning into a good solid performance with plenty of goals. The second half wasn't England's best with miss-placed passes and missed opportunities, shows it happens at every level of the game.

Thank you to Cornwall FA for the tickets and the best of luck to all referees and teams during the season."
