Katie Robinson

INTERVIEW: We catch up with local Young Lioness Katie Robinson

Still only 16 and only a year ago Katie was finishing her GCSE’s and playing grassroots football.

A year later she’s finished her first season at Bristol Academy who play in the WSL after making her debut for the first team in October last year along with being included in the England U17s squad. Katie represented England in the European Championships back in May in Bulgaria, England were unfortunate to not get out of the group on goal difference. However Katie still describes it as a positive experience getting game time at international level and making a big contribution to the team.

Katie’s been following the World Cup this summer from her home in Newquay and believes the success of the national team is great for women and girls football for the whole country and can definitely inspire the nation.

Katie and her family have made lots of sacrifices, moving away from home at 16 has been tough both for Katie and her family but she is driven by wanting to be the best that she can be and is thoroughly enjoying the opportunities football is bringing.

In terms of future aspirations Katie is working hard to ensure she gets more opportunities within the first team, to continue to represent England and in the future secure a professional contract.

We asked for her score prediction for tonights game, she went with 2-1 to England.
