Mental Health Awareness and Support in Cornwall

IT’S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY

Cornwall FA is keen to ensure that everyone involved in grassroots football across the county is aware of the importance of mental health and the support networks available to anyone affected.

Mental health issues are extremely common. One in four people will experience a mental health problem and over 10% of people have depression at any one time.

When players have a physical injury like a broken leg, everybody knows about the problem and it is dealt with accordingly. Mental health problems are much harder to see, so it’s imperative that we collectively raise awareness of mental health, end the stigma around the subject and encourage people to speak up.

Cornwall FA is proud to support The Invictus Trust; a small local charity which offers services and support to teenagers who are suffering from mental health issues.

The charity provides online support and information as well as an Anchor Fund resource available to families travelling out of the county to visit a child being treated in a mental health facility elsewhere in the country.
