Groundsman of the Year Winner 2019
The Groundsman of the Year Award is made annually by Cornwall FA for the groundsman who is judged to have done the most to provide the best possible pitch for their club through their dedicated voluntary work. Groundsmen battle throughout the season with the weather each year to ensure training and fixtures get played. The work of this unsung hero, the groundsman, keeps football going across the county week in, week out year after year.
On Saturday 6th April we were delighted to present the award to year’s winner, Billy Jacka of Mousehole AFC! This season we saw another tough competition with many local Groundsman being nominated and judged, it is a real credit to Billy and all of the hard work he has done at the club to come out as this years winner. We are also delighted to announce the runners up in the competition this season;
1st Billy Jacka- Mousehole AFC
2nd Paul Bowden- St. Blazey AFC
3rd David Searle- St. Day AFC
Cornwall FA Board Member, Steve Lawrence presented Billy with the award ahead of their game at 6-0 home victory over Plymouth Marjon at the weekend.
