50 Girls Attend Wildcats Festival
On Saturday 29th September, Cornwall FA welcomed 50 girls to the first ever Wildcats Festival which took place at Brannel School, St Austell
Over the day we saw players from 5 of the current Wildcats Centres including Bodmin, Penzance, Foxhole, Culdrose and Penryn.
The afternoon itself ran from 2pm-4pm, the first hour of the session was a carousel of practices where players were grouped together in their ages, giving them a chance to play alongside girls from other centres and make some new friends. Each of the practices was led by a different Wildcats coach including Vicky Fisher, Tash Mills, Beth Willshaw and Mike Harwood.
The second hour was a small sided game session where players were given a chance to put into practice some of the things they had learnt and play with some new friends.
It was fantastic to see so many players come together from around the County, all representing Wildcats and showing that anyone can play football and enjoy it!
A big thank you to all of the parents, volunteers and coaches who brought the girls to the session and who give up their time each week to help develop grassroots female football.
The window for clubs to apply to become a Wildcats Centre will be opening at the beginning of November, if you would like more information on how to get involved please contact our Womens and Girls Development Officer, Vicky Fisher on 01208 262986 or email vicky.fisher@cornwallfa.com
