Daniel Greenough, Senior Football Development Officer at Cornwall FA said;

"Cornwall FA would like to congratulate Oscar Massey on being selected for the U15 England training camp. 

This goes to prove the quality and opportunities Cornish football can provide.  Oscar started his footballing career at Truro City Dragons from around 7 years old and played there until he was signed by Plymouth Argyle’s Academy at the age of 12.  Whilst at Truro City Dragons, Oscar also played school football and represented West Cornwall Schools Under-13s, 14s and 15s.

He also trained and played matches at the Cornwall Centre of excellence which Cornwall FA and Plymouth Argyle run in partnership to provide a clear pathway for our talented players in Cornwall.

Cornwall FA will be releasing more information in the near future on our male and female pathway to highlight the opportunities available to our football family and clarify any misconceptions."

Head of Argyle Academy Kevin Hodges said: “I’m delighted for Oscar being selected for the England Under-15 training camp.

He has made good progress this year. On a few occasions, he has been involved with our Under-18s and, when called upon, he has not looked out of his depth playing at this level.”

Kevin said: “He also showed his goalscoring potential when he completed a hat-trick in the Under-14 Floodlight Cup final victory against Exeter played at Home Park at the end of the season. 

“He has the desire to learn how to improve his game and our Academy coaches are keen to work with him so that he has the very best opportunity to realise his potential.”

Academy coach Phil Stokes echoed his colleague’s view:

“We set up the Cornwall Centre of Excellence in conjunction with the Cornwall FA six years ago.

After our meeting, we designed a clear pathway for talented young players in Cornwall to progress into the Academy.

We are pleased to have one of our Academy players selected for an Under-15 England training camp"
