Senior Cup Final Venue Announced
With the persistent rain adding many hurdles to the season for clubs and leagues alike it is a credit to the clubs groundsmen and volunteers who have worked so hard to get us to this stage of the competition.
The first Semi Final on Tuesday 6th March is between Torpoint Athletic and Saltash Utd at Lux Park home of Liskeard Athletic, hosts of last season’s Junior Cup Final.
Torpoint provided us with the shock of the season by beating cup holders Bodmin Town 3-2 despite being 2-0 down at half time, Torpoint only managed to reach the 3rd Round in the 2015-16 season and then the Quarter final last season so reaching the final would be a fantastic achievement. They will face local rivals Saltash United, last season’s beaten finalists who will of course be looking to reach the final again this season.
The second Semi Final on Wednesday 7th March is between AFC St Austell and Mousehole at Bickland Park home of Falmouth Town, who were knocked out in the previous round by AFC St Austell in a 3-0 victory.
AFC St Austell are always a threat and will be looking to reach the final for the first time since the 2014/15 season, only reaching the 3rd round last season. Mousehole had an emphatic win against higher division Newquay in the quarter final and have reached the Semi Final for the first time in their history, after being knocked out in the 3rd round last season and the season before.
Senior Cup Final Venue Confirmed
We are delighted to announce that the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup Final will this year be held at Blaise Park, home of St Blazey Football Club on Easter Monday, 2nd April 2018 with a 2pm kick off. Due to the levels of organisation for our Senior Cup Final we have once again decided to select the venue for the Final ahead of the semi-finals being played. Having more time to make arrangements with the host venue means the day overall will be more enjoyable for the clubs and spectators.
