Local Talent Shown Off At U18 Rep Squad Trials

Over the last few weeks Cornwall FA has held open trials for our U18 Representative Side for the 2018/19 Season. Trials at Camborne, Brannel and Callington were attended by over 100 players looking to be part of the squad for next season.

Manager Glynn Hooper has been conducting the trials, along with his management team and will be looking to build on the fantastic success of the last two seasons, which has seen us go agonisingly close to silverware on both a national and regional level. However Glynn will be the first to say that what has pleased him most is the development of the players and their willingness to listen and learn.

The standard at the trials has been extremely high and has highlighted that there is a significant amount of talent in Cornwall, and with several of last year’s squad now too old to play at U18 level, there is a real opportunity for new players to come into the squad and have an impact.

Our ‘invite only’ trials will be taking place on 28th August and 2nd September, followed by the now traditional friendlies against Plymouth Argyle and The Cornwall Combination League in early September. The first competitive game for the side is a long trip to Bedfordshire in The FA County Youth Cup on Sunday 23rd September. It will be a very busy few weeks ahead for the Cornwall U18’s as we look to build the squad for the new season.
