Temporary Dismissals

Sin Bin Pilot in Duchy League and Trelawny League

Temporary Dismissal “Sin Bin” Pilot

The Duchy League, Trelawny League and Junior Cup

In March 2017, the governing body for The Laws of The Game, IFAB, gave permission for national Football Associations to trial Temporary Dismissals or “Sin Bins” as they are more commonly known.

The English FA, through consultation with IFAB, have adopted the Temporary Dismissal system for certain cautionable offences. Through dialogue and agreement with IFAB, the only cautionable offence that will be punished via means of a temporary dismissal this season is Dissent.

The opportunity to act as Pilot League for “Sin Bins” was offered to all leagues across the country at Step 7 and below in the Football Pyramid

In Cornwall both The Duchy League and Trelawny League registered an interest and following a meeting with The FA giving more detail they both agreed they wanted to act as a Pilot League. This is something Cornwall FA fully supports, and for consistency across that level of the game the Junior Cup will also be used in the Pilot.

There is now a need for Cornwall FA and the leagues to deliver training, with the support of The FA, to all clubs, referees and players and make sure as many people as possible are up to speed with the new regulations and Laws around Sin Bins

To this end there will be 4 presentations delivered by Governance Manager Richard Pallot, who will be supported by the Respective Leagues, there are also 10 Webex (video conferences) being hosted by The FA which can be viewed from any laptop or computer and anyone is welcome to join. (Please see Attached document)

I would encourage as many people as possible to come along to these meetings and ask any questions you may have.

We will have hand outs as well and updates on important Regulations changes
