RGB Cornwall Senior Cup Final

Bodmin Town retain the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup

Saltash Utd v Bodmin Town

Congratulations to Bodmin Town on retaining the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup after beating Saltash Utd 2-1 in the final played yesterday at Kellaway Park, Helston Athletic Football Club.

There wasn't much between these top two sides in Cornish Football but Saltash Utd will rue their missed opportunities and there were quite a few.

Adam Carter gave Bodmin Town the lead in the first half when a miss hit gave him a rather fortuitous goal giving Bodmin a 1-0 lead at half time.

In the second half Saltash Utd again had further chances but it was Bodmin Towns Adam Carter who again found the back of net and Bodmin Town retaining the trophy looked like a foregone conclusion, however 5 minutes later Saltash Utd pulled one back when Chris Menhenick scored a super goal on the volley giving us a wonderful final 10 minutes in the this cup final.

Saltash Utd piled on the pressure looking for the equaliser and a glancing header went just wide of the goal.  All credit however must go to Bodmin Town who looked composed and just soaked up the pressure until the referee blew the final whistle.

A few thank you's...

Thank you to the four match officials, players, management and to all of the spectators who took the time to attend the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup Final.

Thank you to Lee Atkinson of RGB Building Supplies, Porthleven, for sponsoring the competition this season and for taking the time to present the trophy yesterday.

Last but not least Cornwall FA would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved at Helston Athletic Football Club for all their hard work, time and effort in organising a wonderful cup final yesterday. Thank you also to the girls and boys of Helston Athletic Youth Football Club and to the Helston Marching Band for providing some entertainment.
