Junior Cup Final

St Minver win the Bond Timber Cornwall Junior Cup Final

St Stephen v St Minver

Congratulations to St Minver Football Club for winning the Bond Timber Cornwall Junior Cup Final beating St Stephen FC 3-1 in a terrific game which was a real testimony to Duchy League football.

It was a glorious evening on Friday at Lux Park home of Liskeard Athletic Football Club and a crowd of over 350 spectators attended what was the first fixture between two of the top sides in the Duchy Premier League this season.

St Minver started off very brightly with a couple of real chances to take an early lead but they were denied by some wonderful saves from the St Stephen keeper, Steve Raven. With nearly half an hour played however St Minver broke the deadline when Paul Menhinick had a close range shot on target giving the keeper no chance and giving St Minver the lead going into half time.

Within minutes of the second half however St Stephen equalised with a goal by Craig Coad giving us a brilliant second half with both teams looking to take the lead, but it was St Minver who edged St Stephen and Paul Menhinick got his second goal of the match to again give St Minver the lead.

St Stephen mounted some pressure but St Minver just soaked it up and on the 83rd minute a screamer of a goal from Ryan Pooley put the game out of reach for St Stephen and St Minver were crowned the Bond Timber Cornwall Junior Cup champions.

Thank you

Thank you to the four match officials, players, management and to all of the spectators who took the time to attend the Bond Timber Cornwall Junior Cup Final.

Last but not least Cornwall FA would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved at Liskeard Athletic Football Club for all their hard work, time and effort in organising a wonderful cup final on Friday evening.
