A Tribute to Ernie Hooper

Cornwall FA Life Member Ernest F Hooper, of Probus, has died aged 67.

Always known as Ernie, Mr Hooper joined Cornwall FA in 1990 as the Divisional Representative for the Truro Area, which he served untill 2005 when ill health forced his withdrawal. During that time, he served a one year period as the County Chairman, back in 1995.

Ernie was also Chairman of the Cornwall FA Youth Committee from 1992 until 2005. In that time he presided over two South West Counties Youth Championship winning sides and saw the side win the first ever South West Counties Youth Knockout Cup Final.

David Bray, Cornwall FA's Vice-Chairman paid this tribute, "Ernie's playing career was long and very rewarding, he represented Cornwall FA in the South Counties Championship Senior Section on many occassions. He played his club football at Truro City, Newquay, Illogan RBL and Nanpean Rovers. Ernie always said he was 'a very proud man' to be the Youth Chairman and said so on many occasions at post-match functions. Cornish football has lost a great servant to the game both on and off the field of play."
