Continued learning opportunities

STAY ON TOP OF YOUR GAME

Learning and development is an active, continuous process.

It's a journey that never ends. And one that is shaped by experiences and learning opportunities gathered anywhere, anytime.

Due to the restructure of FA Coach Education and the impact of Covid-19, the ability to deliver face to face CPD events is currently on hold. However, in order to support your coaching journey, The FA looks to provide a range of online learning opportunities for you to engage with via the FA BootRoom containing session plans/resources, interviews, courses and much more to help further your personal development.

Looking forward, The FA will be offering the course provision from March 2021. They will be releasing some further information on the changes soon and more detail on these courses will be available directly from The FA in the new year supported by Cornwall FA.

In the mean time, some online coach CPD events will be delivered by Cornwall FA. Please see below the upcoming CPD events.

FAQs

Absolutely. The FA runs events all over the country and for all levels. To explore events please visit our national CPD events page here.

If you and your club would like to host an In-Service/ CPD Event this season please email us on the details above.

If you're an FA Level 1 or 2 learner, continuous professional development hours are optional and so there is no longer a requirement for licensing .

If you're a UEFA qualified coach, however, you are required to complete 15 hours of CPD every three years to maintain your licence, which The FA recommends is best achieved by completing 5 hours per season

Staying connected with your players cpd event

Cornwall FA delivered an online CPD event to support coaches over the national lockdown in January 2021

Cornwall FA and Martin Dighton and Vinnie Halsall, from the FA South West Regional Coaching Development Team, delivered an online CPD workshop focusing on how to stay connected with your players over lockdown. 18 coaches joined the event to gain ideas and share their current knowledge and good practice.

The workshop identified reasons for staying connected with players during lock down and some practical ideas of ways to do it in a safe and engaging way.  Good practice ideas from coaches around the county were shared and discussions surrounding the importance for both coaches and players to keep a social connection at this time was also highlighted.

Martin Dighton (FA Coach Development Officer – Women and Girls) expressed that ‘it was great to see so many coaches actively looking for and considering ways to stay connected with the players throughout this lockdown. We looked at why it is so important to do so and ways in which we can make it exciting, interesting and beneficial for coaches and players alike. We're working on building a full CPD calendar and there will be a Return to Play CPD event when we have clear signs of grassroots football re-starting again’.
