Referee course

Cornwall FA welcomes seven new female match officials

Our female-only referee course was a great success in Wadebridge.

Cornwall FA were delighted to welcome seven girls to our female-only referee course at Wadebridge Town FC last month.

This course was a great chance to meet female referee role models, while also starting their refereeing journey with other women and girls. The course is designed to equip new referees with the key skills and knowledge they will need to be able to referee grassroots football matches safely and effectively.

We had qualified local official Aimee Green attend the course to pass on some of her advice and knowledge and to show that there are exciting times ahead for women and girls in refereeing.
The girls who attended the course are now qualified trainee referees and are looking to gain their full referee qualification by completing their five games as a trainee referee and we hope that they will then look to progress through the refereeing pathway.

Cornwall FA would like to say a big thank you to Wadebridge Town FC for supporting us in providing the facilities for us to run the course and to Aimee Green for providing mentor support during the course.
