Stargazy FC's first session

Stargazy FC offering inclusive football for the LGBTQ+ community

The club’s first training session was a massive success in Hayle.

Stargazy FC, a newly created, inclusive Football Club, trained for the first time last Sunday.

The club was established with the goal of providing a safe space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community to play football.  Football is a sport for everyone and Stargazy are proof of Cornwall FA’s ethos that Football Is For Onen Hag Oll - 'One And All'.

Stargazy’s first session, held on 26th March, proved a massive hit. An impressive 18 players showed up to train and the session welcomed a great mix of ages, genders and abilities. Once the football was done, the players headed into the clubhouse for a drink and the chance to socialise - and, most importantly, a good slice of cake.

“I felt a bit rusty because I hadn’t played for a while, but the session was so much fun and I felt really welcome. I can’t wait to do it again next week!”

Sport and exercise are not only extremely important for your physical health, but also for mental and emotional health and this new club provides an opportunity for people who, for various reasons, don’t have opportunities currently available to them.

“Loved it! Hailey, our coach, was really friendly and it was nice to get to know new people, plus the cake afterwards was excellent.

Cornwall FA would like to thank everyone involved in getting the club up and running, as well as Hailey and Noah for coaching the players.

Everyone is welcome to come down and join the squad. Training is at 6-7pm on Sundays at Hayle FC. If you are interested in coming along to a Stargazy session in the future, get in touch with richard.pallot@cornwallfa.com.
