Cornwall FA Coach Development Events – Why Our Players Play

Secure your place now on the last events of the season.

Cornwall FA are delighted to be joined by FA Regional Coach Developer Lawrence Lok and Vincent Halsall for 2 final coach development events of the season, focusing on why our players play. 

The ‘Why Our Players Play’ event will aim to support coaches to reflect on the reasons your players love playing football, the impact your behaviours as a coach can have on their enjoyment and provided some practical ideas for you to try out in training.

The workshop is completely free to attend and the practical element of the workshop will use local grassroots players at the respective host clubs. Coaches in the surrounding area are welcome to attend and the workshop will be delivered on two separate occasions at the following venues: 

Tuesday 31st May 2022 – Why Our Players Play

Club: Southgate Football Club

Venue: Launceston College 3G Pitch, Hurdon Rd, Launceston PL15 9JR

Timings: 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Club: St Agnes AFC 

Venue: St Agnes AFC, Enys Park, St Agnes, Saint Agnes TR5 0SS

Questions this workshop will aim to answer:

1) What games and practices can I provide that give players the joy of scoring and stopping goals?

2) How can I help players to learn and understand more about the game?

3) How might I use football as a vehicle for developing social skills?

What can coaches expect to take away?

1) Strategies to understand why our players play.

2) Example games that could be used to help players love football.

3) Reflected on their coaching behaviours and the impact on player motivation.
