Parents in sport week

PARENTS IN SPORT WEEK 2021

This week is Parents in Sport week, find out how you can get involved.

This year, the CPSU and NSPCC is aiming Parents in Sport Week directly at parents whose children take part in the sports we work with, to give them everything they need to be part of the bigger safeguarding picture in sport.

As part of this year's campaign, CSOU/ NSPCC will be launching several new resources for parents to help skill them up on keeping their child safe in sport, these include:

  • A short, interactive e-learning course for parents on how to keep children safe

  • A new look parents' hub on the CPSU website, which parents can use as a one-stop-shop for safeguarding information

If your club would like to show support, you can download a campaign pack HERE

Furthermore, parents can take a look at the following advice from the FA to ensure they play their part in making football a safe, inclusive space for children and upholding safeguarding standards.

We are asking every parent/carer to ensure they play their part by making sure they:

  • Know who coaches their child and that they are FA DBS checked and safeguarding trained.
  • Have the name and contact details of their club’s welfare officer in their phone.
  • Are clear about acceptable and unacceptable behaviours at their child’s club.
  • Sign up and adhere to their club’s code of conduct.
  • Help their child to understand their rights and know who they can talk to you if they are worried about an adult’s behaviour.
  • Encourage their child to speak out about anything that worries them, no matter how big or small.
