Torpoint Athletic FC revamp their clubhouse ahead of the new season

After encountering issues with their clubhouse cladding, Torpoint Athletic FC have received funding from the Football Foundation to revamp their clubhouse ahead of the upcoming 2021/22 season.

Matthew Burgoyne (Torpoint Athletic FC’s Media Manager) said, “We are very grateful for the support and guidance from Daniel Greenough at Cornwall FA during the funding application process.

The new look of the clubhouse will hopefully entice new customers who want to hire our facility which will support the football club in the long run.

Everyone at Torpoint AFC are extremely grateful to the FSIF for their financial support towards the new cladding being fitted to the exterior of clubhouse.  ‘The Mill’ celebrates its 50th Anniversary on 11th August 2021 as the home of Torpoint AFC and during the COVID Lockdowns we have been working hard to improve the club with uplifts to the football ground, the sports bar and function room and now, vitally, the external structure of the club.

Everyone at Torpoint Athletic FC are always conscious of our place within the local community and feel this improvement will help immensely as we emerge from COVID restrictions to commence the first normal football season for 3 years.

It will also help us attract the functions; birthday parties, weddings, use by local community clubs that have always played such a key role in the success of Torpoint AFC.”

Daniel Greenough (Cornwall FA’s Football Development Manager) added, it’s great to see Torpoint Athletic FC recognise and act upon their need to renovate their clubhouse to ensure long-term sustainability of their club. As Matthew has mentioned, this will also help draw external partners and customers to their club furthering their offering to the local community”.
