Cornwall FA Update - Wednesday 13 May 2020

An update on County Cups, Affiliation and Insurance

UNPRECEDENTED PERIOD OF DISRUPTION FOR GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Our thoughts first and foremost are on everyone staying safe and well and our heartfelt condolences go out to anyone that has lost family or friends during this very sad, unprecedented period of time.
We would also like to take a moment to thank everyone that continues to have to face the dangers of this pandemic head-on, be it anyone in the medical or caring profession or anyone continuing to provide services for us. The relative safety of our homes is not an option for these people and we are truly grateful.

This pandemic is still however very challenging for many aspects of our everyday lives and it places huge pressure on individual physical health and mental well-being but it is important that we continue to adhere to and support all Government guidance and regulations, including social distancing.

Cornwall FA is not immune to the difficulties all businesses are facing financially at the moment. We have needed to furlough the majority of staff, we have streamlined all expenditure wherever possible and great care will need to be taken as we move into our new financial year following 30th June year-end if we continue to be unable to effectively operate as a business.

Current Staff Available:

Dawn Aberdeen, CEO - 01208 262982 / 07515534545
Richard Pallot, Governance/Safeguarding - 01208 262983
Daniel Greenough, Development/Funding - 01208 262984 / 07817749780
Lee Swabey, Refereeing - 07846 270967

All staff available are working with clubs, leagues, volunteers, referees and our wider football family to assist and support wherever possible.

We are also aware though that everyone is looking for information on the current and future impact on grassroots football as a result of the pandemic.

With no imminent restart date likely, the information can only currently be as a guide.

County Cup Competitions 2019-2020

We have been very keen to hold-off making any final decision regarding the viability for these predominantly semi-final and final games to be played in the hope that a sensible time-frame would emerge. However, the time approaches when that decision will need to be made and further updates will follow shortly.

Season 2020-2021

Affiliation Fees – We are looking at a package of support around new seasons affiliations fees to all clubs and leagues, further details to follow.

Insurances - We continue to partner with Bluefin Sport to offer Insurance under the National Game Insurance Scheme (NGIS)

Public/Legal Liabilities Insurance policies need to remain continuous and cover in place in order to cover all protections and eventualities, therefore Bluefin are not able to offer discount/refunds on these policies due to the disruption to the end of the season. Discussions are taking place to ensure that if football is unable to commence (active from 1st July, new policy date) covers will remain effective and in place until affiliations are activated. (Further confirmation to follow)

Public/Legal Liability

Countycover - £25
Countycover Plus (which includes player to player awards costs) - £54

All policy details will be included in the brochure which will be distributed to clubs and leagues direct.

Personal Accident

Bluefin Insurance are offering a discounted rate for all policies for the 2020/21 season to reflect the early termination of the season due to the Covid-19 pandemic and this will be confirmed when policy renewal details are released.

Statement from Bluefin Sport: In light of the ongoing uncertainty with regard to when the 2020/21 football season can start and grassroots footballing activities can resume, please note that we have taken the decision to delay the release of renewal terms in respect of Football Personal Accident insurance via the National Game Insurance Scheme (NGIS), as well as preventing policies to be purchased via our Quote & Buy website, until June, when we hope that the picture will be clearer, and hence, your affiliated Football Clubs/Teams will be better placed to renew or purchase their Personal Accident insurance for next season. Clubs with existing/live policies will be contacted by Bluefin direct.

County Cup Competitions 2020-2021

We will delay a decision on the viability of cup competitions for next season until we know when football can resume.
