FA Heart Safe Offer on Life-Saving Defibrillators

A sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone and at any age

The FA launched Phase 3 of its national ‘Heart Safe’ initiative last year, to assist all grassroots football clubs to obtain a life-saving defibrillator.

Why your club should invest in a life-saving defibrillator

DefibA sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone and at any age -  we hear about the high-profile footballers who have had an SCA but it could be one of your team, a fan at one of your matches or even you who may one day suffer one.  Performing CPR alone, however, is not enough to help save a person’s life – a defibrillator will also be needed.

For every minute lost without CPR and defibrillation, a person’s chance of survival decreases by around 10 percent.

Research shows that over 90% of sudden cardiac arrests in footballers happen either during or immediately after exercise.
