RESPECT Weekend Feb 2019 (8)

'We Only Do Positive' Respect weekend celebrated by Cornish clubs and leagues

Last weekend Cornwall FA ran a ‘We Only Do Positive’ Respect campaign across the County with the aim of educating as many people as possible about the FA Respect scheme and how this can in turn make football more enjoyable for all involved.

Our overall aim is to ensure football is a positive and safe experience for all of our youth players, coaches and referees. A big thank you to the clubs, leagues, volunteers, players and parents who got involved by promoting RESPECT and good behaviour throughout the weekend at their training and matches.

The clubs and leagues that were involved displayed banners and were provided with free promotional materials to hand out which included pens, badges, wristbands and Respect cards. Cornwall FA staff and officials also attended various events throughout the weekend including visits to Falmouth Community Youth games, the Kernow Youth League Finals and Tregorrick Park Youth fixtures to support with spreading the positive messages around Respect.

A number of clubs are also going to be supporting the campaign this coming weekend including St Day Youth, Helston Athletic Youth and Kelliwick Youth as their events were disrupted by the bad weather which hit late last week.

If your club is getting involved this weekend make sure you take lots of pictures with Respect banners and tag us into them on social media.

During a youth match if you witness poor behaviour such as foul and abusive language, threatening behaviour or discrimination of any kind  towards a player, match official or volunteer please report it to either your League Welfare Officer or Cornwall FA.
