FA Youth Council 2018-19

Junior Development Officer Appointed to National Youth Council

Cornwall FA are delighted that our very own Junior Football Development Officer, Joshua Stockdale has been appointed to the FA Youth Council for the 2018-19 season. Josh will be taking the role as Engagement Officer, South, here's what he has to say about his appointment;

"Attending the first National Youth Council meeting at St Georges Park was an incredible experience.  It is a great privilege to be working with some of the most passionate and hardworking people from across the Country, all with a common goal to inspire, empower and provide a voice for all children and young people to influence change and develop a lasting legacy in football.  The weekend was a fantastic opportunity to get to know the team and plan our strategy for the year ahead.  The FA Youth Council is an exciting project which has already been involved in some outstanding work.  I hope, in my role as Engagement Officer for the South, to continue this and build upon the team’s previous success.  I met many wonderful people over the duration of my time at SGP and I have come away even more inspired and motivated to make a difference.  I am very grateful for this exciting opportunity and look forward to getting started straight away."

 Our Senior Football Development Officer, Daniel Greenough was delighted to hear about Joshuas new role;

 "It is such great news that Joshua has been given the chance to represent the National Youth Council and has been successful in being appointed to the role of engagement officer for the south.  It proves with hard work, dedication and ambition that you can achieve what you want.  It is often said that people from this part of the country do not get opportunities to spread their wings but this demonstrates that if you want it you can succeed.  Joshua has also been a key part of Cornwall FA’s youth council revival and it is hoped that he can continue to develop both our youth council and the national youth council."

On the back of his weekend at St Georges Park Josh also played a key role in hosting the first Cornwall FA Youth Council meeting with the new team last night which took place at the County FA Office in Bodmin. The meeting was an exciting opportunity everyone to come together, it was an extremely positive experience showing the passion, enthusiasm and talent throughout the group. Another important outcome of the meeting was to start our preparation for the Female Youth Engagement Day which is taking place on the 26th October at Brannel School. This will be the team’s first event and will be a great way to test our skills and help make the event as fun and engaging as possible. The CCFA Youth Council will be both leading and supporting various workshops throughout the day. This is an exciting time for young people in football and the Youth Council are ready to start making the difference and promoting positive change. Going forward we will be working on various projects and supporting/leading multiple events. If you see us, please come over and ask us about our work, how we can support you and how you can get involved.
