Wembley Stadium

Competition Winner Enjoys Wembley Experience

Last month Cornwall FA ran a Facebook competition giving our followers a chance to win two tickets to see England play their penultimate warm up game at Wembley ahead of the World Cup which starts in less than 2 weeks!

The competition asked the grassroots community to like, share, and tag the person they would take to the game! It was brilliant to see the responses of why people would take their loved ones to the game in London!

On 25th May we held  a live draw on our Facebook page, with the lucky winner Larry Pink being chosen at random from the 75 people that entered. Larry said he would take; " My 9 year old son Albie as he loves his football and would be great too see England off before the world cup.."

Here is what Larry said about their trip on Saturday;

"What a brilliant day we had yesterday. Traveled by train straight to Wembley stadium, it was brilliant pre-match atmosphere with Albie having a game of 1v1 in the England fanzone. We were both very excited, the seats were the best we've ever had at any game being slight left of centre circle but right near the pitch (12 rows from front) and we could see the players up real close. Albie was trying to get the players to sign his shirt but as luck had it I saw Geoff Hurst (the 1966 world cup hero and of course only man to score a hat trick in world cup final). He kindly signed Albies shirt for him. The game was good especially first half with 2 England goals.We had a very special weekend and can not thank Cornwall FA enough.Thank you for the memories!"

Larry was the 6th winner of a pair of England tickets in the last 3 seasons, this is something we are proud to support giving people involved in grassroots football across Cornwall a chance to see England play at Wembley!
