Disability Step into Football Overview

New Disability Workshop launches in Camborne

Sunday 29th July saw Cornwall FA’s first ever disability specific ‘Step into Football’ workshop .

Our ‘Step into Football’ workshops have been designed to give parents, volunteers and players an insight into getting involved in coaching and ideas around supporting their local clubs.

This workshop was delivered in partnership with the Cornwall DisAbility league ahead of the start of the new season later this summer and was open to disability players, parents, carers or anyone looking to gain an insight into disability football. The workshop looked at the range of disability provision on both a national and local level, the motivations and needs of disability players and then some practical examples of sessions that could be adapted to suit the needs of their players. A special thank you and well done to the Troon FC disability players who took part in the practical sessions giving the volunteers an opportunity to see a live demonstration.

The workshop was delivered by Cornwall FA Womens and Girls Officer Vicky Fisher, supported by FA Coach Mentor Tash Mills and Martin Burnell. The FA Coach Mentor team are available to help and support all coaches within the game and will be continuing to support those involved with the Cornwall DisAbility League.
