Saltash Supported with Community Shield Fund

On Saturday 25th November Saltash United Juniors were present with a cheque for £1,000 by Cornwall FA Chairman Geoff Lee from the Community Shield Distribution Fund. The presentation took place at Saltmill pitch and receiving the cheque on behalf of Saltash was Robin Duff, Chairman of Saltash United Juniors.

Saltash United Juniors run Mini Soccer sessions on a Saturday morning and it has grown from just 2 teams a few years ago to 60/70 children on Saturday with lots of Coaches and volunteers playing their part.

The club also has teams from U11 – U16 and have come a long way in a few years, they were also runners up for Community Inclusion Project of the year at the Charter Standard Community Awards in the summer for the work they have done to support female football in the area.

Robin Duff said “We are extremely proud of how much the club has grown in recent years, this is due to the dedication and commitment of the volunteers and coaches. The money will be used to help improve the coaches even further through FA Courses and will support what we already have in place. We have great links with the Saltash United senior section and will continue to try and develop local players, we are very proud to have received this award from The FA and Cornwall FA”
