A big crowd turned up last night to cheer on their teams in the much anticipated Senior Cup Semi-Final tie between local rivals AFC St. Austell and St. Blazey AFC at Mount Wise in Newquay.

It was St. Austell who got off to a better start with Christian Pople putting the Lillywhites in the lead after only four minutes, when he scored from Chris Reski's corner. Throughout the first half the team of manager Phil Lafferty dominated play and a freekick by Martin Watts just before the half time whistle extended their lead to 2:0.Carl Rickard (St Austell) is tackled by stand-in St Blazey keeper Ryan Walton

St. Blazey attempted to get back into the game in the second half, but when Martin Giles scored for St. Austell in the 70th minute hopes of reaching the Final were quickly fading away. In a final push it was Lewis Coomber who scored a late consolidation goal for St. Blazey in the 90th minute.

With celebrations due in St. Austell, who have secured themselves a spot in the Easter Monday Final on 21st April 2014, we are anticipating another interesting Semi-Final tonight at Blaise Park:

Title holders Bodmin Town are set to play last year's Easter Monday hosts Saltash United. The two teams only recently played each other in the League, resulting in a 0-0 tie, promising a closely fought match.
