Truro Win U13s Cup Final at Penryn

Truro City won the U13's Boys County Cup Final with a hard fought 1-0 win over Mevagissey at Penryn Athletic on Sunday 23rd March.

Cornwall FA U13s Cup

Despite a blustery wind both teams tried to play football using the width of the pitch and playing to feet. Mevagissey enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half and created a number of chances, but just failing to find a final pass or beat the Truro Goalkeeper. Truro also had their chances but good defending and goalkeeping kept the score 0-0 at half time.

The second half saw Truro come more into the game as the windy conditions again dictated some of the play. There were again chances at both ends but it seemed a goal might be elusive as extra time seemed a distinct possibility. With just five minutes to go it seemed Mevagissey might take the Cup as they broke the Truro back line only to see the ball bounce agonisingly wide of the post. However, Truro's next attack brought the winner as a shot from the edge of the penalty box found the bottom corner.

Cornwall FA would like to thank Penryn Athletic FC for the use of their facilities and the hard work of their volunteers. We would also like to thank the players, officials and spectators of both Truro City FC and Mevagissey FC for their conduct on the day.
