Callington Town win Charity Cup Semi

Wednesday 9th April saw the second Cornwall Charity Cup Semi-Final take place. Callington Town FC took on Mousehole FC at Truro City.

Charity Cup Semi-Final

Callington Town FC v Mousehole FC

A sparse crowd witnessed an entertaining encounter in last evening's Charity Cup Semi-Final between Callington Town and Mousehole, played at Truro City's Treyew Road ground.  The first half of the match was a fairly even contest with both sides having chances to open the scoring.

The best opportunity falling to Callington's Carlton Farnham who, when clear on goal, blasted his effort high and wide from the edge of the penalty area.  Callington took the lead early in the second half, when a free-kick from wide on the right hand touchline eluded everyone and nestled in the top corner of the net.  Callington then took control of the match and it came as no real surprise when they increased their lead midway through the half.

Mousehole were relying on the occasional break in their efforts to reduce the deficit but Callington put the game to bed ten minutes from the end when Farnham, who had caused the opposition problems throughout the game, was brought down on the edge of the penalty area and the subsequent penalty was dispatched to give Callington a deserved victory and a place in next month's Final against Dobwalls.
